Sickness absence rises

11-03-2011

Data of the 'ONS Labour Force Survey' showed that sickness absence is rising again.

In 2009 the sickness absence was only 2,1% in the first quarter, but in the last quarter of 2010, the sickness absence had already risen to 2,5%. This is bad news, because the most recent CIPD Annual Survey Report says that employee absenteeism the most significant cost is for 90% of all businesses. Every year 8 working days get lost for every staff member, with an average cost of £666 per employee.
